Our Mission

MISSION STATEMENT

Children’s Theatre of Southern Indiana is committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive educational and performance experience for all children and teens through the transformative power of theatre.

VISION STATEMENT

To promote awareness, build understanding, and invite engagement, by inspiring and empowering area youth to become open-minded, empathetic, and confident, connected individuals.

DIVERSITY & EQUITY STATEMENT

Children’s Theatre of Southern Indiana believes that every child deserves a stage. A place where their unique voices, backgrounds, and experiences are celebrated and amplified.

In our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment through:

Equitable Access: We strive to ensure that everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status, has access to our programs. We work diligently to offer financial aid, sliding scale fees, and community partnerships that bridge economic gaps.

Gender: We champion an environment where everyone, irrespective of their gender identity or expression, feels safe, respected, and empowered to be themselves. Our content and programs reflect a broad spectrum of gender experiences and narratives.

Race: We are dedicated to promoting racial equity. Our stories, casts, and crews reflect the rich tapestry of races and ethnicities that make up our community. We continuously seek to challenge stereotypes and present authentic experiences.

Religion: We respect and celebrate the diverse religious backgrounds of our community. Our programs strive to honor these beliefs, fostering understanding and appreciation of various worldviews.

We recognize that the journey towards full inclusion is ongoing. We pledge to listen, learn, and adapt, ensuring that Children’s Theatre of Southern Indiana is always a haven where everyone sees themselves represented and celebrated.

Children’s Theatre of Southern Indiana was established in October of 2017 by the owners of D’Alto Studio as a way to reach more children and teens in our fast-growing Tri-State community. Inspired by the personal growth of students involved in classes and productions over the years, it became evident that a theatrical arts education truly gives children the tools to meet life’s challenges with self-confidence and superior adaptive abilities.

Those of us at Children’s Theatre are excited about sharing these learning and growth opportunities to children of every socio-economic group, every religious belief, culture, race and gender. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing area youth the opportunity to express their talents and creativity while enriching the region through educational and growth opportunities for our kids. Whether your child has interest in being on the stage, directing, writing, tech work, or so much more…being a part of a Children’s Theatre program will offer them a chance to express themselves and connect with others while learning to work together as a team for a common purpose and goal. We are primarily focused on productions and events circled around children and teens in the region. Our seasons will consist of musicals and plays from all walks of life, including the well-known and hidden treasures. We help kids learn how to speak in front of crowds empowering their natural ability to express themselves through theatre.
